Software Upgrades
The concept of the SX and CX series was innovative, the ability to upgrade your Hammond to latest specifications via software (although this was on EPROM) Thus a 10 year old SX2000 could, for a modest fee be upgraded to a SX2500 or an SX3000. The upgrade did not affect Reverb or cabinet design. Upgrades are still available for the complete range of SX/CX and EX series.
Generally the 'E' (stands for Ease of Play) on and SX/CX1 or SX/CX2000 means the instrument has been upgraded. It was not possible to upgrade an SX/CX1 to 2000 or higher specifications.
