About the songs and the artists

Takanobu Masuda

Started playing the organ when small. Has been interested in the Hammond Organ since about 15. Purchased a new Hammond X-5 and Leslie 760 at the age of 18, then studied mainly Rock style performance and approach. Later, as a session keyboardist, joined the recordings and live performances of various artists. Now gives advice to Hammond Suzuki about the XB/XM series from the viewpoint of a professional musician.

About "Challenger": This demo song was composed in the framework of 'Rock & Pops'. "Listening pleasure" was in mind, first of all, and not so much stress on demonstration performance. Also, the biggest task was how to arrange music only with Hammond sounds, since rhythm instruments such as drums are very important. So it was a real challenge.

Daisuke Kawai

Made his debut as a studio musician in 1989. Has recorded and performed live with Itsuwa Mayumi, Cornelius, Shinji Takeda, etc. Now actively arranging and producing.

About "K's Drive": A blues in the traditional bop style. Faithfully reproducing the B-3's Scanner Vibrato and Chorus. Leslie effect was not used. While listening, the tone is switched similar to a live B-3 performance in which the preset is changed while playing. Also, the bass sound changes. This is because the phrase to be stressed by Lower in the usual performance is played by the Pedal Bass.

Steven Eaklor

Lives in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. Played the Hammond Chord Organ at about 6, then switched to spinet organ, which stimulated him to start seriously playing Hammond Organ. Has performed and enchanted innumerable audiences not only in the USA and Canada, but also in Europe, Australia, Singapore, etc. Now works on research and development as the Director of R&D, Hammond Suzuki USA.

About "The Milt & Buddy Swing": An original blues arranged in a style reminiscent of two great Hammond organists - Milt Buckner and Buddy Cole. The bass is played on the Pedal section using sustain to simulate an upright bass. Much of the melody in played using both hands on the Upper Manual in a "block chord" style. The Lower Manual is registered as a clarinet, a sound much favored by Buddy Cole.
